From a very young age, Petit Yama grows up in a strict and highly structured environment. Like many children in Japan, he learns to work hard, be disciplined, and always strive for excellence. But in his constant pursuit of being the best, he begins to feel immense pressure and constantly compares himself to others.
Through impressive acts of juggling, acrobatics, magic, Chinese pole and music, the audience dives into Petit Yama’s childhood and teenage memories. Blending humour, imagination and touching moments, the show gradually reveals what truly makes him happy.
The show also offers a glimpse into several fascinating aspects of Japanese culture, including kanji, the Japanese language, and everyday life for children in Japan.
But beware… the audience may not stay seated for very long! Some spectators might even become Petit Yama’s childhood friends or assistants for the duration of an act.
This 50-minute interactive show combines laughter, emotion, surprises and reflections on identity, friendship, and the joy of being yourself.
And in the end, one big question remains hanging in the air:
“What kind of adult would you like to become?”
